two internships avaliable at conscience

by Campaign ~ December 7th, 2012. Filed under: News.

We’re looking for two interns to help in the office for two days per week for six months at our office in Archway, North London.

We would like people who would like to learn about a variety of tasks needed by an NGO, however one of the internships will be research focused. We are looking for someone who is interested in research and would like to gain experience what it means to carry out research for a small organisation. This intern is likely to carry out research on defence spending. Some of the intern’s time will be devoted to other activities.

Good research skills as well as good writing skills and an excellent grasp of the English language are a must. Also a high level of knowledge about the peace sector and issues surrounding it are necessary. Specific knowledge about military expenditure, non-military security and conflict prevention would be an asset.

The other internship will be more orientated towards campaigning and meeting and speaking with the public, however, knowledge of the peace sector and issues surrounding it are still necessary.

Most importantly, we are looking for people who are motivated to join our team, willing to help carry out a wide variety of tasks and are quick to learn new skills. The chosen interns will need to be able to cope independently and as part of a small team.

We make sure that our interns benefit from their time with us, and we help and support them however we can, though ultimately the chosen candidate will get from the internship what s/he puts into it. We want someone who will make the most of their time with us: be keen, learn and develop their talents as much as they can. We are a small, flexible organisation which is open to new ideas and we are looking for a motivated individual to take up this great opportunity to fill their CV interesting and varied content.

We offer:
References, travel costs to work, lunch, and a friendly environment in which to learn all about working for a campaigning organisation in the peace sector. Furthermore interns may have the possibility to attend conferences on behalf of the organisation (with costs paid for) and participate in conscience events.

Please send your CV and a covering letter to Gayle Kinkead at Please mark the subject line ‘Intern Application’. The deadline for applications is 9am on Monday 14 January 2013, interviews will be held on 24 January. We would like the internship to commence early February.
