Count the UK nuclear weapons money

by Karen Robinson ~ October 25th, 2019. Filed under: Events, News.

Our event, ‘Count the money we spend on nuclear weapons – and divert it to saving our climate’, is taking place tomorrow (Saturday 26 October) from 10.00-16.00 outside the Ministry of Defence in London.

You are very welcome to join us.

We will be counting £5.2 billion; the amount the UK spends on its nuclear weapons programme in a year.  We will be physically counting 10,400 x £500,000 notes.   We will be demanding that the money is spent instead on addressing the climate emergency.

Conscience Campaign Worker, Karen Robinson, has just written a new blog post about the event;   https://conscienceonline.org.uk/blog/2019/10/25/counting-the-uk-nuclear-weapons-money/

This action is the London companion event to the international ‘Count the Nuclear Weapons Money‘ action taking place in New York throughout UN Disarmament Week (24-30 October).  The New York action started yesterday: http://www.nuclearweaponsmoney.org/count-the-money/
