Volunteering

conscience could not function without the help of its volunteers whose help is vital to the success of the campaign.  There are a range of current volunteering possibilities at conscience including:

  • General volunteering programme at our office in Islington
As part of our volunteering programme you could be involved in campaigning, fundraising, political lobbying, membership management and general office support.
  • Helping with events
To provide assistance in planning and organising events and/or facilitating at events.  conscience runs joint events with other peace organisations, holds an AGM and sometimes even runs conferences.  This activity can provide networking opportunities and gives a chance to develop, exercise and demonstrate a variety of event-related and project management skills.
  • Help with office administration
Straightforward office work under the direction of a staff member.  This activity might suit an individual looking for experience in the NGO sector.
  • Ad hoc help
There are certain times during the year, such as newsletter production time, when the office needs additional help and calls on everyone who may be available.  Add your name to our informal volunteer list and help the campaign for half a day a few times a year!
  • Executive Committee membership
Our Executive Committee comprises volunteers too. The EC meets four times a year to make decisions on matters such as policy, strategy and finance. There is more information here.
  • Honorary Treasurer
We would benefit from someone willing to be Treasurer, determining budgets, approving expenditure and reporting on finances to the Executive Committee at the quarterly meetings.

If you are interested in any of our volunteering opportunities please contact us at campaign@conscienceonline.org.uk or call 020 3515 9132.

conscience will cover reasonable expenses and can provide a reference for volunteering work where appropriate.
